Louisiana State University has gone through numerous notable alumni over the years, with many of them being famous actors, rappers, athletes, politicians and more! LSU has a spectacular list has some jaw-dropping graduates that we would like to share with you, so we at The Oliver decided to compile an incredible list of Notable LSU Alumni.

Shaquille O’Neal

Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal, also known as “Shaq,” is a 7 foot 1-inch tall widely known professional basketball player. O’Neal graduated from LSU in the year 2000 with a Bachelor of General Studies and became a four-time NBA champion since.

James Carville

James Carville graduated from LSU in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science and in 1973 with a Juris Doctor degree. Carville has gained a lot of his reputation from working as the chief campaign strategist for Bill Clinton and has become a prominent democratic figure since then.

Hubert Humphrey

Hubert Horatio Humphrey Jr. graduated from LSU in 1942 with a Master of Arts degree and again in 1965 with a Doctor of Laws degree. He became the 38th Vice President of the United States and had become a U.S. Senator for 23 years.

Amy Brittain

Amy Brittain studied at LSU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2009. Brittain is now working at The Washington Post since 2013. Brittain has won numerous awards for her achievements at The Washinton Post.

Andi Dorfman

Andi Dorfman graduated from LSU in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree. Dorfman is famous for starring in the eighteenth season of The Bachelor and was the lead on the tenth season of The Bachelorette.

Steve Scalise

Steve Scalise is a United States Representative who graduated from LSU in 1989 and received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Rex Reed

Rex Reed is a film critic and actor appearing in movies like the 1970’s Superman, 1981’s Inchon, and many more films. Reed graduated from LSU in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in News Editorials.

Eddie Jemison

Eddie Jemison graduated from LSU and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. Jemison is famous for starring in Ocean’s Eleven in 2001, 2003’s Bruce Almighty, and Ocean’s Thirteen from 2007.

Lolo Jones

Lolo Jones graduated from LSU and became an Olympian track star, she competed and won the USA and World championships for hurdle events in 2008, 2012, and 2014 Olympic games.

Stephen Ambrose

Stephen Ambrose is a popular writer who graduated from LSU with a Master of Arts in History. Ambrose wrote for a lot of popular shows and movies, like the early popular tv series “Band of Brothers.”

Better Than Ezra

Better Than Ezra was a rock band formed in 1988 which was made up of 4 LSU students, Kevin Griffin, Joel Rundell, Tom Drummond, and Cary Bonnecaze. The band performed at local college bars, house parties, and fraternity houses. They then released their first hit album as a cassette-only album in 1990.

Renee Horton

Renee Horton graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. of Electrical Engineering and a Ph. D. in Material Science. Horton worked with NASA leading metallic engineering for their Space Launch System. Horton is assigned to the largest rocket NASA has ever built which is planned to bring humans into deep space exploration missions.
